  • BHS Goal for the Use of Technology and Devices in the Classroom

The Burleson Independent School District (BISD) is proud to support engagement in the tools of the 21st century recognizing the extreme importance of said tools for all students. As such, BISD has provided all students the opportunity to participate in the district’s 1:You program via a district-issued Chromebook. This technology tool is configured to be compatible with all district-supported software essential for 21st century learning outcomes.

Our world is driven by technology. With this in mind, it is the goal of BISD to teach students how to use technology effectively while also recognizing that there are times when personal technology devices distract students and prevent them from engaging in their learning. In order to be more strategic in how we engage students and encourage appropriate digital technology use, we ask that personal devices be put away during class times unless the lesson incorporates the tool. For students that have difficulty storing personal devices and focusing on learning with the appropriate technology for the lesson, all teachers provide a visible placeholder in the classroom away from the student to limit the distraction.

Teachers are working hard to increase the integration of technology in all of their planned lessons in a manner that successfully prepares students for the society in which they live. We work everyday to help our students be successful in and out of school, and we are looking forward to a great year with our Elk Family.

  • 2019 Project Celebration

    Dear Parents of BHS Juniors,
It is hard to believe that in just a few short months, your child will begin their senior year at BHS. As the countdown begins towards graduation so do so many other senior milestones. One of the BIG ONES is Senior Prom and with that is Project Celebration (The Party After Prom). Project Celebration is the all night drug and alcohol free after prom party organized and sponsored by the senior class parents.
This year’s board has worked very hard getting this year’s event done, and we are ready to pass on the torch to the next group of parents for 2018-2019.

Please join us for a brief meeting on Thursday, May 24th at 6:30pm in the BHS Lecture Hall. This will be a short meeting to elect next year’s board members. We will give you an overview of Project Celebration as well as answer any questions you may have. I know I speak for the entire board when I say that putting together Project Celebration is a rewarding experience, and we look forward to starting you out on the right foot toward a successful event.

If you are interested in being part of Project Celebration (Senior Party After Prom) for the senior 2019 class but can’t make the meeting, please send your contact information to elkproiectcelebration2018@gmail.com.  We will add your name to the list of volunteers interested in information on becoming a committee member.

Thank You and we hope to see you there!
    Kimberly Grable
