Graduation Information

BHS 2019 Graduates, Parents, Families and Friends:

Graduation day is fast approaching! We wanted to provide each of you with as much information as possible prior to this special event.

Graduates will meet at the BHS Arena on May 30th no later than 2:45 PM (students who drive to the school will park in the student parking lot). Buses will be loaded at 3:15 and will depart by 3:30 PM. Graduates will arrive dressed for the ceremony with their graduation regalia on a disposable hanger. Click here for graduate attire requirements. All graduates who wish to participate in the ceremony are required to travel to TCU in the district provided transportation. We will participate in a rehearsal once we arrive at TCU and will then move to an air conditioned “holding facility” where we will provide students with a light snack and water. There will not be a secured place to store valuables – please secure them in your vehicle or with family prior to entering BHS at 2:45 PM.

Graduation will be held at 7PM on May 30, 2019 at the TCU Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena, 2900 Stadium Drive Ft. Worth 76109. Click here for a map of the school which includes the available parking lots for guests.

A.D.A. Information: Parking attendants will reserve a number of parking spaces in the Kelly Parking Lot by the arena for handicap access. Schollmaier Arena is wheelchair accessible. Ramps located at each portal entrance lead to the seating area. The arena has a total of 45 wheelchair spaces with 45 companion seats. Each portal accommodates 5 wheelchairs and 5 companion seats. The wheelchair seating areas are at portals 101, 103, 105, 107, 109, 111, 113, 115, and 117.

Doors will open at 6PM. All guests must adhere to the “TCU Bag Policy.” Click here for the “TCU Bag Policy.” All bags will be checked at the entrance. Anyone who exits the building between 6PM and the conclusion of graduation will be subject to the same checks upon re-entry. TCU now has a “No Smoking Policy” which includes E-Cigs and Vapes.

Seating is first come, first serve. There are no “tickets” for our graduation ceremony. TCU rules state, “There are no securing seats in advance. Name tags are not allowed on the chairs.” There are approximately 360 graduates and the arena provides guests’ seating for up to 6700. Click here for a diagram of the arena seating showing the section your student will sit in on the floor. Students will enter the stage near Section 1 and will exit stage near Section 12.

At the conclusion of the graduation ceremony, all graduates will exit through the arena tunnel and then under the stadium walking down to Gate 6 to exit. Families are encouraged to review the maps ahead of time and make a plan for a meeting place or move from the arena outside to Gate 6 to meet their graduate.

As a reminder, the graduation ceremony is meant to be conducted with dignity and while celebration is appropriate and expected, such displays should be in accordance with accepted community standards. TCU rules state, “Balloons and air horns are NOT allowed in the arena.”
