  • Mock Trial Team Advances to Regionals

Debate 4This past weekend our BHS Mock Trial Team traveled to Valley Mills High School for a Mock Trial Scrimmage on Friday; and then on Saturday, traveled to the Downtown Fort Worth Tarrant County Courthouse to compete in their very 1st Criminal Mock Trial in front of real judges and attorneys that work out of the DFW area. Thousands of high school students from across the state participate each year in this challenging academic event. It was a very long and trying day with 15 teams from surrounding schools competing both on the State side and for the Defense. Our BHS Debate/Mock Trial Team consists of 4 students who act as lawyers, 6 who act as witnesses, and 2 timekeepers (with some students playing 2 different roles). Being our first year to ever participate in a Mock Trial Competition, the BHS Team did exceptionally well! There were 15 teams total in this first Regional Competition with only 4 teams advancing to the Semi-Finals. Your BHS Mock Trial Team WAS one of the 4 teams that did advance and will have the opportunity to compete again this Friday at the Tarrant County Courthouse. Only 1 of these 4 teams will get the chance to move on and compete at the state level. Please wish our competitors luck as they move on in this highly motivating, energetic, and challenging academic competition! They have a very difficult case, but are representing BHS proudly!
