  • AFJROTC Receives Exceeds Standards Rating

The BISD AFJROTC TX-801st received an Exceeds Standards on their Unit Evaluation from HQ AFJROTC on Thursday, February 23.  This is the highest rating possible on this inspection that only occurs every three years.  We congratulate them on this milestone achievement that now allows them to be eligible for the Distinguished Unit Award with Merit that will be announced in June.
Their Regional Director, retired Major Donald Bailey, was their evaluator for this detailed inspection.  He went through a 17 page checklist that included 8 sections on Administration, Compliance, Instructor Performance, Equipment Management, Co-Curricular Activities, Cadet Operations, Unit Operations, and a Director’s Special Interest Section. Major Bailey inspected all 126 cadets in a mass formation and awarded the Top Performer Awards to Cadet Colonel Nicole McDade, Cadet Colonel Elizabeth Webb, and Cadet Lt Colonel Hayley Starks. Major Bailey received a briefing from the Top 6 cadets, met with the Principal, Counselors, Instructors and cadets in this head to toe comprehensive program evaluation.
Less than 10% of the units he evaluates each year are awarded this highest rating.  It is reserved for those that are truly at the top of their game.  In this one day inspection he was able to see the support our program has from the administration and the impact it is having on our community and on individual cadets.
We again congratulate the TX-801st in this achievement.

Overall, the girls finished 9th out of 24 teams and the boys finished 8th. It was a super day at the pool. Every swimmer who swam in the preliminaries advanced to the finals on Saturday, and that was a first for us. The team made great strides, and they’re feeling confident about next year. Coaches are very proud of the swimmers.
