  • PSAT Information

    On Wednesday, October 19th, all 9th grade students will take the PSAT 8/9 and all 10th and 11th grade students will take the PSAT/NMSQT. BHS students do not have to register or pay. All students are automatically registered to take the PSAT 8/9 or the PSAT/NMSQT.

    Non-BHS students wishing to take the PSAT at BHS may do so by completing this Google form.

  • Upcoming Events

    There will be a very important Senior Meeting at 9:30 am on Wednesday, April 13th.  Seniors who have 1st period out need to make arrangement to arrive a little early.

    Other important events –

    • Jostens was here today (April 12th) during all three lunches to deliver announcements.
    • Prom tickets will be distributed during lunches on Wednesday, April 13th and Thursday, April 14th.  Students must have their student id or driver’s license to pick up tickets.
    • Prom Parking – There are limited free parking spaces downtown.  Valet parking at the Worthington is $20.
    • Al’s Formal Wear will be delivering tuxes on Wednesday during all three lunches – outside the concession area of the arena.
    • Prom and Project Celebration – Saturday, April 16th.
    • Cap and Gown Delivery – TBA.
    • ELKcellence, Senior Picnic, Powder Puff Football – Wednesday, May 25th.
    • Senior Awards Night – Thursday, May 26th.
    • Final Exams – May 27thJune 1st.
    • Graduation – Monday, June 6th.

  • Tennis Team Members Advance to Regionals

    The tennis team has worked hard all season.  Congratulations to Adam White and Brinley Brown who qualified for Regionals on Friday, April 8th.  They will be competing at Texas Tech next week.

  • State Champions!

    The Powerlifting team won the Division 1 State Championship on Saturday, April 2nd in Abilene.

    Kody Russey – State champion 275 lbs class State record holder in deadlift with 740 lbs. All time THSPA best deadlift. He is the king of deadlift.

    Brandon Ragoonath – state runner up 198 lb class Best deadlifter on heavy platforms ( pound for pound)

    Taylor Bissell – state runner up 165 lb class

    Dawson Caruso – 4th place 123 lb class

    Joey Caruso – 6th place 123 lb class

    Sean Wofford – 13th place 148 lb class

    David Tubig – also competed in the meet.

    2015 Yerd HerdThe 2015 The Elk Yearbook was recognized as one of the top 3% yearbooks in the Nation by Balfour Yearbooks. Elements of the 2015 The Elk will be published in the 30th Anniversary publication of The Yearbook of Yearbooks. Current students that were on the 2015 staff include Rebekah Andress, Vanessa Castañeda, Elizabeth Keen, Rachel Michelin, Myranda Obregon, Jewelee Peterson, Shawn Robles and Brooke Simms.

    *Current 9th and 10th graders signing up for dual credit are required to take the TSI.

    *Current 11th graders may be exempt based on EOC scores. Students can check with Mrs. Christian-Shafer in the Academic Office to see if they are exempt and can also refer to this link for exemption information.

  • 8-5A District Golf Tournament Results

    Congratulations to BHS Golf Team members!  Students participated in the 8-5A District Golf Tournament earlier this week.

    Varsity girls finished 5th overall as a team.  Alex Etley finished tied for 5th, earning first team all district honors.  Hannah Cottrell finished 8th, earning second team all district honors.  Other members on the team: Ashley Branch, Katelyn Collins, Mikayleigh Norris, Lauren Yates and Kaylee Trevino.

    Varsity Boys finished 2nd and is the first team since 2011 to qualify for the regional tournament.  Sean Wesier finished 2nd, earning first team all district honors.  Pierson Farnell finished tied for 5th, earning first team all district honors.  Other members of the team: Brandon Davis, Brandon Daniel, Garrett Reed, and Patrick Dodge.

    Twenty two BHS SkillsUSA students competed at the state competition last weekend in Corpus Christi.
    The Internetworking Exhibit team of Thomas Ash, Preston Duff, Travis Koehn, Ben Landon, and
    Noah Sharp won 1st place (blue ribbon) and was named Best In Show for the state of Texas.
    The Cosmetology Exhibit team of Angel Bennett, Alexander Cummings, Haley Doyle, Colleen Garza,
    and Andrea Holstein won 1st place (blue ribbon).
    The Cosmetology Exhibit team Destiny Linebarger, Mariah Sheldon, Meagan Watson, and Kassandra
    Zuniga won 1st place (blue ribbon).
    Ben Landon competed in the Internetworking individual competition. Ben won 1st place and will represent Burleson and the state of Texas at the National SkillsUSA competition in Louisville, Kentucky in June.
    We are proud of all the competitors and the way they represented Burleson High School.
