  • Valentine Carnation

    FCCLA is selling Carnations for Valentine’s Day! Carnations are $2 each. You may purchase from any FCCLA member or Ms. Varley or Mrs. Schellbach or at lunch. They will be delivered on Wednesday, Feb. 14th, Valentine’s Day. Carnations can be delivered to any period but lunch or Success+. Only a limited number of carnations have been ordered, so get yours early.

  • Swim Qualifies for State

    Congratulations to our Lady Elks for their 6th place finish out of 26 and our Elks finished 8th out of 25 teams this past weekend at the Region 2 swim meet. 5 new pool records were also set this weekend including Jacob Coursey in the 500 free, Amelia Flug in the 100 fly, Ethan Brown in the 200 IM, Aaliyah Young in the 100 free and James Miller in the 100 back. We also have TWO state qualifiers-James Miller and Aaliyah Young. Congratulations, Elk swim team, and Aaliyah and James on your State qualifications!

  • Scholastic Art & Writing Competition

    Burleson High School Art Department competed very well in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.

    Andrew Esquivel won a prestigious Gold Key award for his photograph “Levitate”. That work now advances to National judging and will be considered for national awards.

    Andrew also won two Silver Key awards for his photos “Anarchy” and “Mayhem.”

    Blaire Haley won a Silver Key award for her drawing “Sunshine” and Shelby Akin-Davis won an Honorable Mention award for her photograph “Ring Drip.”

  • Do You Have Talent?

    BHS Project Celebration is having a Talent Show February 24th at 7pm with a dress rehearsal at 3pm. ALL 9th -12th grade students are able to be part of the show. If you are interested in showing your talent please print off the entry form and turn it in to the front office. Please turn in all forms and registration fee to the office by Feb 16th.   • BHS Student Earns All-State Honors

    Makayla Lockhart, who plays bass clarinet in the Burleson High School Wind Ensemble, was selected for the 2018 Texas Music Educators Association 5A All-State Band during Area B Auditions Saturday, January 13th at Coppell HS. She is one of only nine students state-wide selected for this honor.

    Lockhart will face the other eight all-state bass clarinet students during auditions to be held on February 14th in San Antonio for chair placement. Following this audition she will rehearse with the All-State Band for three days as they prepare their performance to be premiered on Saturday, February 17th in Lila Cockrell Theater of the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center.

    Lockhart studies bass clarinet privately with Kate Whaley of Arlington. She has also studied with Dr. Ann Hung of Fort Worth.

    Teer will face the other twenty all-state trumpet students during auditions to be held on February 14th in San Antonio for chair placement. There he will rehearse with the All-State Band for three days as they prepare their performance to be premiered on Saturday, February 17th in Lila Cockrell Theater of the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center.

    Teer is only the second freshman in the history of Burleson High School to earn all-state honors. He studies privately with Angela Gipson Rimbach of Crowley.
